The owner of Cy-Fair Mechanical, David, was instrumental in providing HGA with a solid quote on our AC/Heating system we needed for our facility.

David was very knowledgable and helpful in providing the equipment and start up for our (2) five ton units.

David has over 15 years in the business and we at HGA would like to endorse him to our customers and friends.

Kids Jiu Jitsu Class Cancelled for Thursday March 14th

I know the majority of folks are out of town or doing things with the kids this week.

So due to Spring Break this week we will be cancelling Kids Jiu Jitsu class only for Thursday, March 14th.

Wrestling and Adult Classes will not be effected.

We will have regular sessions starting again next week. Have a safe Spring Break!!!!

Free Self Defense Classes for Our Community

Houston Grappling Academy is serious about Self Defense for Kids, Women and Men.

We train you to observe your surroundings as a natural part of your day and not with distress or paranoia.

We train you in avoidance techniques from a distance and up close.

We train you what to do and most importantly what NOT TO DO in a physical confrontation.

We will be hosting classes starting next week for FREE to our local community at our facility.

HGA members pass this along, but you are more than welcome to attend and bring friends.

Wrestling Schedule Update

After the Kids State Tournament and the UIL Texas State Tournament most of our wrestlers are healing up and taking a much deserved break.

The New wrestling schedule will be starting on the week of March 4th, 2013.

For the remainder of the week of February 25th Wrestling Practices will be suspended until next week.

We will extend any wrestlers membership for two weeks after the intermission.

IBJJF Houston Open 2013 Luis Morales Senior V Blue Belts – Gold Medal

Houston Grappling Academy is proud to announce our first IBJJF Gold Medal Champion, Luis Morales in the Senior Division.

Luis has been Training with us since April of 2011 and has received his Blue belt while attending Houston Grappling Academy.

He is a great mentor and motivator to our younger students, (anyone under 50 years of age), and a great individual who loves BJJ.

Luis great job on your Championship!!!!

HGA Club Wrestlers 2013 State Wrestling Tounament Results

Houston Grappling Academy would like to congratulate all the CFISD coaches and Wrestlers on an outstanding year.

The young men and women who are club members learned some valuable lessons both on and off the mat.

They understand the importance of controlling their emotions, managing thier pain and at times having the courage to not quit when they can’t go on.

If you have never wrestled, you will never know the sacrifices and commitment they made.

Houston Grappling Academy would like to have posted more winners, but in light of this, we are extremely proud of Dakota Upshaw who has fought through shoulder pain all year which at times has sidelined him to watch practices.

Dakoto showed Guts and Grit to manage his emotions and overcome his aches and pains to make it to the podium.

Congratulations Dakota! Well done!

11th Annual Cy-Fair Wrestling Tounament Results

The 11th Annual Cy-Fair Wrestling Tournament is a 64 team event with up to 64 wrestlers in each weight division. There are 14 Boy Weight Divisions and 10 Girl Weight Divisions. The wrestlers that Train at Houston Grappling Academy had an outstanding showing in this tournament. They placed in the top eight (8) in their perspective weight class. All of these kids High School Coaches have put a lot of time into each wrestler. Congratulations Coaches!!
Houston Grappling Academy is glad that we were able to help them along the way. HGA had (8) boys from (14) weight classes and one of our only girls that came to the Camp over the Holidays succeed in placing in the top (8) of this Tournament.
The Cy-Fair Wrestling Tournament ran like clock work. Many Thanks to Coach Ray from Cy-Ridge and all the other CFISD Wrestling Coaches, Trainers and Barry Center Staff that made it possible. Well done.
